Call for Proposals: ERA sponsoring University Theses

In 2008/2009, the European Rental Association is sponsoring a Masters’ thesis at the University of Venice. A student of this university is currently working on evaluating findings resulting from the use of the ERA “Rent vs Buy Calculator”. A summary of the thesis is expected to be released at the end of the university year, in June 2009.
The ERA is willing to sponsor university theses on construction equipment rental in forthcoming years, in any European country. Interested students are invited to submit proposals to the ERA Secretariat. Proposals will be selected based on the validity of the topic proposed for the rental industry, as well as on the planned methodology. They need to be approved by the student’s professor before being submitted to the ERA. A grant of up to 5,000 EUR is awarded for selected projects.
As an example, the following topics/areas are of particular interest to the ERA:
- sustainability / corporate social responsibility;
- attitudes to rental in Eastern Europe;
- impact of the rental industry on suburban development;
- ideal use duration of construction equipment;
- cost control models for use by smaller rental operators;
