What is it?
The Rental Checklist allows a company to see if the rental agreement being used and/or connected general terms & conditions cover potential problem areas closely connected to rental activities.
It covers 12 aspects: Rental period and rate, Delivery and collection, Energy (fuel, oil, electricity...), Damage, Installation, Waste, Preparation and cleaning, Inspection and maintenance, Handover of the equipment, Operator, Site survey and consulting, Breakdowns and suspensions.
Who developed it?
A two-year working group dedicated to working on general rental conditions across Europe developed the Checklist.
Who can use it?
The checklist can be used by any European company active in the rental of equipment, regardless of being a member or non-member of the ERA. The document is available free of charge.
What is it?
The Framework for GRCs provides companies with a non-exhaustive comparative analysis of approaches used by existing associations and companies from nine European countries in their standard terms and conditions.
It covers 14 aspects: Loading and unloading, Ground conditions, Operators, Breakdowns, repairs and adjustment, Limitation of rental company’s liability, User’s responsibility for damage, loss or theft, Rental charges until rental equipment repaired or
replaced, Sub-rental – by the user, Insurance, Protection of rental company’s rights, Force majeure, Payment terms, Termination of the contract, Dispute resolution

Who can use it?
The document can be used, by associations as well as companies, as a reference point for developing their own standard terms and conditions for the rental of equipment to customers within their own and in other European countries.
This document should be used on a voluntary basis and rental companies are free to adopt alternative contract terms. The ERA board have stated that this framework document is freely available to both members and non-members of the ERA.
